Boogaloo Investigators - Sleep Walk b/w Let's Work Awhile (Defunkt) Whoa dad! The Boogaloo Investigators, Scotlands answer to the JBs are back, with as they say, a vengeance. So tumultuous was the clamor for a second 45 - the first having flown off the shelves - that the Boogaloos jumped back into the studio to lay down some more grooves. I had to wait even longer for mine because the postman managed to fold the first copy in half. 'Sleep Walk' is a cover of the funk classic by Joe & Everyday People, taken at a slightly more relaxed - but no less deadly - pace. The BI's take the time to stretch, clocking this version in at just under 7 minutes. The flip is a wicked take on Bobby Williams 'Lets Work Awhile', chock-a-block with smoking hammond and some tasty vocals. At this pace I expect to be reviewing their third LP (or retrospective boxed set) by next year, but you KNOW it'll be good. Highly recommended. |
